Betta tank

I've got my only betta in a 5 (UK) gal tank all by himself and he certainly covers the tank. He loves going wandering and poking into hidey holes and generally enjoying the space to swim about and explore.

I know that most folks keep them in smaller tanks, but I love seeing mine swimming languidly from one area to another - you get such a good view of him.

:grr: OMG I was just putting my betta in the bowl and my mom comes in and said no no no, im not having this smell. I have no idea what to do now. I guess Ill have to hid him of something.

Water changes. This is an issue of some debate. Some say once every week, with a partial change in between. Others say a full 100% change per day. Others a full change every 3-5 days.

:dunno:

what about a gallon thing that hangs off the side of the tank like they have at the petstore to put the fish in to put in the bag?

smell? :/ My betta bowls dont smell. the main tanks have sort of a scent to them .. like good garden earth... but not the bowl. Do frequent partial water changes and there will be no smell.

IMO those "betta baracks" thingys stress the fish out.

PS: just stuck my nose in to check ... no smell... keep the water clean

This isn't an adult betta though, it's just a few weeks old right? Really shouldn't be out of a growout yet, but I'd say daily or every other day 100% water changes. Problem with this though is it's going to be stressful to move it that much. -_- Maybe daily 50-75% daily and hope for the best.

A 2.5 gallon tank around here costs about 7 dollars, without a hood or lid or anything. I had my betta in a 2.5 g and he was just fine with 100% changes every 2 days.

i know they dont smell its just my tank smelled for a week because something was wrong with filter so i decided to upgrade to mt emperor, but there is no convincing her right now. Im going to find the biggest thing to hang of the back for him, or divide the tank, i dont know have to do some thinking. 2.5 gallons here cost 9.99 and come with a glass lid ;) actually my betta is about id say a couple months old i got him about beganing of december and then he was 3 weeks to 1 month old. He has some color now :D
