Hey. I got a betta off Netty, which arrived on Tuesday (pics later!)

Just wondering, now I have one - I want more!!

Can anyone suggest a tank that I could divide for a few bettas?

I know it will have to be really long - but I cant find one anywhere.

I need a reasonably priced, long tank, with hood+light .. any suggestions? :)

I'll go and get some pics now of my betta! :p

what's reasonably priced? and how big are you willing to go? more infor needed :)

The tank can be as long as anything :p

budget is about £120
you can get a clearseal tank from Pets @ home for a great price, think they are doing them for the same price as us when we have them in, £85 for a 4 foot, has lid but no light, but you can just add mesh to the top instead of a lid and you could have a lamp above the tank, clearseal tanks divide up really well due to the standard size of their basic tanks being the same size as standard tank dividers and if you choose to make your own dividers then these tanks are great also.

Hmm that sounds good. shame about the light though :p

thats probably the one i would get if i am to get one.. thanks!

If you have a place to stand the tank like a kitchen work surface already I would recommend an Aqua One 620. It's 90 litres and you could have about 15 female bettas in it. Or 10 female bettas and 5-6 cories. I used to have that set up, it was awesome. Only thing is the tank is about the price of your budget so you couldn't afford the stand too unless u look on ebay

Do you have a local aquatic centre? If so, you could try asking them if they have any secondhand tanks for sale. I know that my local shop does this. I think maybe some customers let the shop have their old tanks (then the shop reconditions them to make sure they are in top condition before selling them on). You might be able to get one complete with hood and lights.

Other than that (and ebay) - check in your local newspapers for aquarium sales - I've seen some huge tanks going at ridiculously low prices in my local papers (just wish I had room for more tanks!).

There are some really good bargains out there if you hunt around and prepared to take a secondhand tank (make sure all seals are intact). Just because a tank is secondhand doesn't mean it will be grubby - some people buy these aquariums then realise the hard work involved and decide it's not for them after all! Or people upgrade after 6 months/year - so you can pick up fairly newish tanks at a fraction of the cost to buy new.

Happy hunting! Athena
