I used these and the spines from report covers
omg, I thought of the plastic mesh, but I never thought of the report card covers!!! What a great idea! How do you attatch the spines to the side so that they don't get pushed over?

Ooooh good to see its nearly ready for the fish as I've been wondering what happened to your project.

Looking good, can't wait to see everyone in it :)

Ok, well my gravel and several plants still haven't came in yet...so it's not completely "done" but it's got fish in it now lol

:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :fun:

(I hate my stupid camera..wish I could figure out how to turn that date function off...messes up all my pictures :X )

:D Thanks

I thought it turned out rather well myself (but of course I might be slightly bias  ).

:kana:

Wow. That looks great. You should seriously consider selling those. I'd buy one.

lol..it will be probably be a long time before I consider making another one of these for myself (you know..I'd have to buy more fish and all ).

It's not that it was "hard" but it was time consuming and tendious. If I made them for someone I'd have to be even more tedious (perfection reigns when making something for another person you know) then I was already..there are some runs and drips that don't show up on photograph..from the acrylic weld solvent running down the sides of the tank. They aren't bad mind you and most people who come in don't even notice them...but "I" know they are there. :/

But all in all the project was a success I think (I mean..it DOES hold water and the Fish can't get to each other lol).

Yes, it's great having them all in one place!!! It's also nice not having to change 8 seperate containers everyday as well.

All in all it cost me approx $100 (and a 1" x 1/4" section of skin from my right index finger lol) to build this tank ..not too shabby imo (although, to be honest and all... I'd rather still have that section of skin though.)

If I were to make and sell one...it'd cost $150..for materials, time, and effort..plus shipping (which wouldn't be as bad as you might think...my 8 yr old can hold this tank by himself..no I didn't make him carry it or anything..lol I just wanted to see how light it really was...I have no scales :D ).

I'm willing to make these should someone "really" decide they wanted one, but be forewarned this is not a timely procedure..this tank took several months to build...between ordering supplies and getting them, cutting plexiglass, measurements and dry fittings (always measure thrice cut once you know lol), and times between dryings...it's not a weekend project by any means.

Oh, and for who might be wondering...it figures out to be approx a 20 gallon tank. So I have 8 2-3" fish (mostly 2 though...most of my guys aren't very big) in a 20 gallon tank...and everyone is comfortable and happy with room to spare. :D

WoW that looks super Fab !
Are my eyes playing tricks with me though, but are some of the divisions more spacious than others or not ? :dunno:
The 4th from the left looks roomier than the 3rd from the left. Just curious.
Well done though !

Yes some are wider then others.

Some of my fish have bigger finnage then the others, I had a certain space I could utilize ..the table the tank is sitting on.. so I made each section for the specific fish in that stall.

Good eyes!!!

Save your self the time and money an go to wal-Mart and buy and Aquaview for 10 bucks. Comes witha UGF, plant, hood w/ light pumb, airstone ect. best deal around...so for 60 bucks you can get all that...save your self from well all that work....thats just personally what I would do :p
A little confused by your post. does walmart sell something with dividers?

I think he's saying buy a pre-made tank and put each fish in one... if that post was regarding my divided tank.

I've never seen a tank that comes already pre-divided though..except those little betta bow front containers.

And personally..I'd rather not have 8 individual tanks sitting around to clean and change....plus,can you imagine how many extensions cords you'd need to run all the pumps/airstones/lights for each tank  . Not to mention I personally abhore UGF systems.

also. for only about $15 more then I would pay for 8 individual tanks..I got my own that is exactly what I wanted. :flex:

just hope you dont have anymore tables, (and a 1" x 1/4" section of skin from my right index finger lol) still you have 5 fingers ..........  , thats a real good job there you should be proud of yourself im sure everyone who see it in real life rather than pictures is impressed i know i would be.......
