After coming home from the LFS with a betta sorority on the mind, I saw that my newest boy, Cloud, was no where to be seen. I noticed a black-ish object on the ground, and found out that it was the dried up remains of him!

I am very upset about this, and finally noticed the fact that the feeding hole on the lid of the tank is MASSIVE!

What can I do to cover it safely? (I will provide pictures if needed)

cut a piece of cardboard to just fit the hole, and tape one side down, and make a handle of tape on the other side. makes a door for the feeding area :)

Sorry for your loss,

 Cloud.

I use the lids of containers to cover up holes as these are waterproof.

Sorry about your loss. I used to have a crayon tank when I was little and the same thing happened. If you can just make shift a little door with the things mentioned above. It might not be the prettiest sight, but at least you won't have to lose any more of your pets.

I use thin pieces of netting, craft mesh cut to size, or cling film (saran wrap) to cover any open holes on my betta tanks to solve the "suicide" tendency that seems to follow this particular species.
