betta still not eating.

is he lethargic?
have you tried frozen foods? you can also dip the food in garlic extract.

lethargic, lethargic. It's not on the list of diseases that I have. Well, not diseases that I have, but list of them that I have. Um, :S .... You know what I mean. What is it? What would be some good frozen foods to try. I saw some on here somewhere, but can't find them now. His stomach area does look a little enlarged, but he can't be constipated cause he hasn't eaten...... While I'm at it, my other betta's tail is getting ragged. I think it might just be that they were getting too long cause they were getting long. I'm going to get some fin rot medicine tomorrow and some stuff to help them heal.

I just saw something small and white hanging from his underside hanging between his Pectoral? (sorry, don't remember what they are called. They are the small ones that hang down) fins. Maybe he is constipated. For a week and a half? Would that keep him from eating? I'm at a loss. I have been doing searches after searches trying to find info............

lethargic is not a disease. (its a word) it means he is lazy or lies around all day. those are the ventral fins. if its a little further down, it could be poop. if its white poop, you should worry. if he looks bloated, he might be constipated. can you post a pic?

is this a new betta you just bought? if so, don't worry. bettas sometimes just take awhile to get used to new food and new surroundings. my betta didn't eat for 2.5 weeks when i first got him.

just try giving him a little bit of food every day, and see if he's hungry enough to eat it. if not, scoop the food out so it doesn't sink to the bottom and get all yucky.

Ummmm, if he has a small white thing between the fins that hang down (pelvic fins) then he is a she :p

Does it look like this? This is a female that belongs to Arashi here on the forums...

The little white tube that hangs down is the egg spot and means it's a girl. Is this familiar?

Sorrell, no, he's definatly a male. His fins are way long. I noticed the white thing this evening, and it is gone now. jacblades, it was white and was a little behind the ventral fins(thanks for that by the way). He does look bloated. I will try to post a pic soon. I can't get a good shot of him right now. He is down under his decoration. If I can't post a pic I will put one on my website and link to it. The white stuff is gone now. He isn't very active. Mostly just floats near the surface, or lays at the bottom. He doesn't flare at the mirror anymore either...... eja0913, I got him about a week and a half ago. I have been offering him food every day and getting it out after a couple minutes when he shows no interest. Thanks for all your help guys/gals. I would hate to loose him.

jacblades, thanks for that site. It is just what I have been looking for for a while now. Let's see if these pictures help anyone figure out what is wrong with my Glory. Here we go......

I have had him for almost 2 weeks, he hasn't eaten once, is larthegic, had white poop, swollen stomach. Hope this helps. The list of diseases I have says the symptoms add up for constipation, but he hasn't eaten for 2 weeks?!!

white or clear poop can often mean bacterial infections. i have a site on it somewhere. let me find it.

i think i deleted it :(
if i didnt see the long fins, id say that was a female but i know it cant be...
maybe if he does in fact have some sort of infection, you could use some bettaMAX (not to be confused with the bottle of poo known as bettafix)
as for getting him to eat, maybe live foods would inspire him. if those arent available, you could try frozen blood worms and dangle them in the water so it looks like they are moving. frozen foods also sink so you could drop them right by his mouth is he stays in one spot in the corner. i have heard good things about soaking food in garlic extract (although ive never tried it myself). for some reason garlic entices picky eaters.

if he is constipated (which i doubt since he hasnt eaten in so long)-you could try feeding daphnia. hikari makes freeze dried daphnia. all of my fish love it:)

he looks pretty healthy-no external signs of anyhtring bad...

does he just lay there all day?

I was finally able to get some bettamax today. I hope it's not too late. Now he lays in one spot on the bottom and when he needs air, he rockets to the top, takes a gulp and sinks right back down to the bottom. I gave him his first dose of bettamax today. I'm sorry Glory!!!!!!!!!!
