Veiltail are the cheapest ones ive found in my local fish store...infact the ONLY ones ive found there as well...

I voted plakats because they're a lot less likely to get finrot... plus, I just think they're spiffy

Lol, spiffy for sure! I voted VT because they are the cheapest (unless you get lucky like they said above and find a crownie like at Wally World). They are the most readily available--almost every place has them.

Downside, yeah they tend (all the ones I've had anyway) have to have low immune systems and their tails tear easier and get fin rot easier. But, if you keep him clean and fed reguarly, you should have no problem what so ever.

Personally, if you find a store with plakats and they are less than $10, I'd go for it. Plakats are a good choice for their great immune system. Mine (who shares a split tank) didn't get fin rot nor ich when his tankmate had both.
