Betta Spawning Tank

I have a sponge filter in my spawn tank, as do most of the local breeders in my area (some very successful breeders with champion lines). I keep the filter either off or very very low during spawning/egg watching/non free swiming stage/just after they become free swimming. I'll start to turn it up a bit at the babies grow and can handle the water movement easier.

I then clean out the bottom of the tank with a DIY cleaner (air tubing with a McDonlads straw attached with aquarium silicone) and I'll be adding water everyday until the 10 gallon tank is filled (it's only half filled during spawn), and I'll remove some water each day or at least every other day.
