Soooo FB is dangerous lol. I just bid on 3 beautiful female veiltail bettas. 1 red, 1 light blue and one 1 darker blue. I'm going to give a sorority a go, if it doesnt work out no hassle as i have a backup plan.....I will be getting another female at least if i can, but only these 3 are available at this stage.

Exciting! LOL

They sound beautiful! I've never had much luck keeping bettas but have always been one of my favourite fish!

Good luck and as aquapit said, looking forward to photos!

Ooh , Betta sorority, good luck with that as hear these can be hard to keep aggression / bullying under control.

I'd be inclined to get more if you can to help spread potential trouble between these girls.

And of course as you already know, plenty of plants, hiding spots and breaking lines of sights will all help

I'd agree with Ch4.  In my limited experience with a betta sorority, you want them 'overcrowded', similar to keeping African cichlids, so that each of them are protected from over bullying by having lots of targets for bullying from the 'alpha'-females.

3 probably will be less successful than say, 7.  I had 7 in a 15 gallon, and they worked out their hierarchy fairly quickly.  There was chasing, but nothing more than that.  Lots and lots of flaring gill covers.

My experience was with related females, and I've heard that is easier than randomly sourced females.  My females, I believe, all came from the same tank at the breeder's place before coming to my tank.  If these are all unrelated females, you may have more trouble.

Any more than 4 will be way too much for the tank i want to put them in....so we will see. As stated i have a back up plan if they dont get along

What size tank are you using for them?

1ft cube is what i am planning for them to go into at this stage......

Looks like i won the 3 girls and an extra they have also.....should be ready to pick up Tues....

Sooooooo i got my betta girls........they are absolutely gorgeous and look brilliant all in together!! We have had a few tiny flares, but overall they have all got along great so far.....i am now debating another sorority tank lol

I'll take some pics later today and tonight.....

Can't wait for pictures!! I have always wanted a sorority but other set ups have always snuck in instead (usually due to a family member or coworker needing to rehome their fish and thus claiming what ever available tank I had lol)
