i have a 5 gallon tank with a hangon filter overhanging light, sand and plants, that i has been running for around 2 weeks (cycled using other tank media).

Anyway Ive been reading a few stories on here about people finding good looking bettas in LFS's, so seeing as i know around 10 shops around my area that sell fish, i might aswell go looking for bettas, maybe even save one or two.

I used to have a male delta when i started fish keeping, i kept him in a 5gallon bowfront, but sadley he jumped out of the tank while i was doing a water change.

I won't make this mistake again, and have decided to get a good looking male hopefully.

ill keep you posted

Good luck with your hunt.......you just never know what you might find :D

ill go to every shop and if i see one i like ill ask them to keep it for me, and then carry on.

BUT...... if i see one i REALLY REALLY like then ill have to have it :p

 when we found Strudel we weren't looking to get a male and had to empty our pockets to get enough change together to buy him. What if you find 2 you REALLY REALLY LIKE :p

erm....... well i have another 2 spare 5 gals, but no heaters or small filters.

I dont think i can divide the 5gal, won't it be alittle small?

But then again if i find a small sponge filter and heater on my travels, i may end up buying them too lol

A man on a mission......can't wait to see what you come back with :D

I suppose it would still give you 2.5 g each. Our split tank is about 3g each and they are fine. In fact the new boy who came yesterday made a bubble nest within hours :)

If you really want to splitting the 5 Gallon into 2 2.5 gollon sections isn't bad especially in a cycled filtered tank. Just make sure they have plenty of plants and hidey holes to keep them occupied is all. :D

Most definitely. I responded recently to a topic that got into 3/4 gallon tanks being "betta hell".... with a differing view along the lines of "more like not ideal". I keep my bettas in 5 gal tanks each.... but splitting 5 gal wouldn't be anything ridiculous. I would consider that a good setup :good:

Good luck. I am of the opinion that if I rescue one I will get it and then sort out housing when I get home! :shout:

HI, yes i have found one!, i think its a VT (can you id?). He was in a tank full of platy's in maidenhead aquatics, he was laying on the bottom looking sorry for him self, so i had to have him.

I got him this morning, and now hes fine, checking out his new tank without any platies in his way
He has a real nice colouring, can't really see in the pics but when the light catches his flanks, its like and emerald green and purple shine, its awsum :D

I saw a lovely female too, that was with atleast another 10 in the same tank, she was the only one to be white with red fins, with yellowish stripes down them.
hmmm maybe one more? :p

That's a super find, he looks really great and is gonna be much happier in his new tank :good:
