Betta question

What is the average life span for bettas and are they ever too old to be moved into a new tank without problems? My betta is about two years old and considering he lives untill x- mas I want to buy it a tank with a light because it lives in my room in a tank that currently doesn't have one. Thanks a lot! 8)

Yes, Bettas are pretty tolerant fish.
