My friend has a betta that has lately been refusing to eat. He used to have it in a tank that was way too cold and shifted temperatures a lot, but has switched it into a heated tank with a steady, warm temperature. The only thing stressing it out now is the cat because he keeps forgetting to put the lid back on the tank; so far he has caught it trying to catch the betta twice. The betta still isn't interested in its food, though; he tries to eat a piece only to spit it back out and quit trying. I suggested feeding it bloodworms, but he only ate one. It's been five days since he's eaten anything.

Any suggestions on how to get this betta to eat?

Perhaps turn his heater down a tad? what is it at?
I've found that generally they prefer to be cooler than warmer (not cold! but around 76-78'ish)
