Hey guys, recently I moved my Betta and my Bronze Cory from a 8g tank to a 29g tank. I had the filter media from the newer filter (800L/H that i'd be using in my 29g) put in my old tank so it'd grow some bacteria and make the cycle process easier. I now have 3 filters set up in the tank, one corner and two internals (the 800L/H with an air bar and a 260L/H with it's flow turned all the way down)

However since moving the fish in, I've noticed my Betta isn't as active anymore. Before it used to poke around at the surface when it saw movement outside the tank thinking it was food, but in the new tank he just sits in a corner not doing much. He doesn't seem to be eating much either.
I've had both fish for about 4 months now, originally I had an albino corydora but it died due to fin rot/red spots, I moved that fish to a hospital tank but not straight away.. My current corydora seems fine and is loving the new sand substrate.

The water temperature is about 28 degrees C although im not sure how accurate this reading is. The water does feel kind of cold. My water levels are 0 nitrites, 0 ammonia and the nitrates are around 40. This is because of my naturally high tap nitrate levels but I have several plants in my tank along with duckweed on the surface to help lower it.

Hopefully someone knows what's causing my Betta to act so unusually.

Thank you for your time!

What are you using to check the water temp? Your stats seem fine so maybe hes just getting used to the tank itself

I'm using a digital thermometer that you an end in and it reads that. I'm not sure it's accurate though, it's designed for reading fridge temperatures lol. The heater was set to 25 degrees C but I'll try raising it a bit higher.

Just a thought. Is the heater in your 29g tank the one from your 8g tank? If so, it may not be up to the job of heating the larger volume of water.

Yeah I just realised that's probably the problem. It's only a 50W heater and after talking to a lot of people that's just not enough. I've since ordered a 200W heater and hopefully that'll fix things up. Thanks for the help guys!
