Betta molting

I just got a betta and it has not been very active. It also has some whitish stuff flaking off of his body. It doesnt look to be a fungal infection, so I was wondering if bettas molt or if there is something else that I should be doing.

No,bettas don't molt. Is it ich? Salt'ish in appearance? Are you sure it's coming off?

It's not ich, I've experienced ithat before with my other fish. It just looks like it's kinda peeling off. I thought it might be a fungus, but it doesn't hold with the typical symptoms I've been reading about...
