Betta lips

hi everyone,

i just got my first ever bettas, a group of 4, one male, 3 females, all gorgeous, will post pics later, had them less than a day, and so far no problems.

couple of questions,

whats the best food to keep them in condition, they are in a 25 gal tank, external filter, they have eaten a little flake, and a some prawn yesterday, the tank is well planted and im trying to keep the nitrates down.

The breeder said her nitritates were between 5 & 10, mine are prob 25 if im lucking, tap water has 10 for a start.

Any advice would be appreciated. di

oh i will post you some pics, betta mamma, i ve look at your pics and three are similiar (almost identical) to three of yours, and you have lovely fish. di

Hi - thanks!
First off, you don't have the male in with the females do you?
You will need to separate them ASAP if they're not, or you'll end up with some dead fishies.

Right, I got these from a breeder that shows bettas, so i assumed she would know, and was assured they would be fine, however, im not taking any chances, and have moved the females into another tank, replaced them with a couple baby swords and female platy, I was worried about the females and dwarf gourami, but they dont seem to be taking any notice of the new arrivals, it is heavily planted, so heres hoping. Im assuming melafix is ok with the bettas then, what about salt, for that wound, i do have lots of corys which dont really like it much. di
