Yeah its a fad, been around for a year or so now.

Nothing you can do about it, luckily the lamp doesnt throw out much heat, which means at least the beta wont boil!

Mind you I was finding Pangasius cats, red tail catfish etc. and other tank busters/impossibles all over ebay, with the wrong info. at least this item will eventually be removed once people start complaining....

IME with bettas (I've had about 9 now), they live upwards of 5 years in larger tanks... I have 9 of them spread out through tanks (6 of them in 1gallon tanks) did all the same work on them and fed them the exact same amount of food everyday and the ones in the 1gallon tanks died long before my 3 in the larger tanks... max lifespan in a tank so tiny seemed to be about 2 years where as my other guys lived for 5 years max (1 lived to 6 :D)

i think the whole idea of the bettas being able to live in 1 litre of water is a load of crap, its cruel, unfair and cant be good for the betta. all my bettas ive had have lived in either 3 gallons or 5 gallons and they have lived a good age of 3-4 years.my community betta lived for a whoping 6 years,no kidding, he outlived most of his tank mates, IMO the smaller the tank, the harding it is the clean, herder it is the heat(yes they DO need heat, they are tropical water fish)and shorter the lifespan of the poor fish inside.
