Hi,
My girlfriend is keen to put a Betta in her tank but we both wonder if it's a good idea so seek some advice as we've never had a Betta before. We kind of think the answer will be no but here goes...
Can we put a better in a 40L Hexangonal tank which has 2 Dwarf Gouramis and 2 small Mollies in?
Thanks in advance for some advice.

Yeah the gouramis might be a little too flashy for a betta to be with.

Thanks for the tips. Would a Betta be ok with just the Mollies? (If I persuaded her to part with the Gouramis)

Most people on here I'm sure would say that it is fine to place a Betta with mollies, but I had bad experience with mine. They just wouldn't leave my Betta alone.

I'd personally keep a Betta on it's own, he'd be perfectly happy.
You could try him in a community tank but make sure you have a spare tank in case it doesn't work out.
As said before, Gouramis are a definite no but not sure about the Mollies.

females can be equally agressive in both species, although usually a little less so with the gouramis. One of mine is more agressive than my males when she puts her mind to it. The agression is 2 sided from both not one sided from the gouramis. Mollies should be brackish not fresh really. I would think that mollies are potentially a problem when they are bigger. I wouldnt keep my bettas with anything other than snails, cories and ottos

ive never kept them with other anabantids so go by others experiance (ie, not a good idea) but ive kept several male betas in community tanks with neons, glowlights, pristellas, mollies, platies, loaches, and guppies without any problems.
