Betta In Heavily Planted Tank

Heavily planted tanks require alot more then "just" filtration. I think if I were you..I'd go research planted tanks before anything else. If the tank is healthy and cycled before you put the fish in there..it will be fine and dandy.

Maybe PM some of the members who frequent the planted section of the forum to get started..or just go read the stickies there.

Balderdash, it all depends on what plants you want and how much time you're looking to put into it. I have a fully planted 29 gallon that's doing fantastic on nothing more than filtration and a little substrate fertilizer (if even that, since it has probably been 5 months or so since I added any.)

Mum's not happy about me getting more tanks :/
I only have 2..!
It's ok i'm getting a betta one and a tall hexagonal one with neon tetra's and cardinals in it

I don't know if that was ment as a joke but
DON'T.
Bettas shouldnt be kept in tall tanks as they are surface breathers and it will make the fish extremly tired and inactive if he has to swim alot to get to the top. Wider tanks are much better then taller tanks for bettas.

And you should never keep them with neons and cardinal tetras as tetras are very nippy and will nip the fin of the betta and it won't be pretty.

Please think through what you are going to do. We can help you, all you need to do is listen.

thanks mate will defo get tht 22 ltrthen will it go with cory's?

Everyone I know that has plants..has to have filtration, fertilizer, and lights. To me..that's alot more then filtration.

Yeah, but they're the plant techy nerds. They have money/time to bother with a hugely complex planted setup, with basicplants all you need is enough light and normal filtration.

Right. My tank is going great and I'm pretty much flying blind
I did buy an additional light hood for the tank, but if I had chosen all low-light plants there wouldn't have been a need.
