betta in 1 gallon tank

I do 100% water changes once a week. I do rinse off the gravel with tap water, however, I don't rinse off the plant, so the good bacteria remains on the plant.

In my 1 gallons I do a 100% water change every 2 to 3 days, if I wait any longer the ammonia becomes detectable, although lately I'm switching to feeding only once per day to help with that. (except those I'm planning on spawning, then they still get fed twice a day). I also have bare bottom, gravel just isn't possible with how many I have, I tried it with my first 2 Bettas and it was a serious pain in the you know what.
