Moon continues to get worse. As suggested, I added a betta hammock in case his fins were too heavy. I’ve never seen him nip at his tail. He now has a small hole at the top fin. Do y’all still think it’s not fin rot or should I go ahead and take action. Ammonia and nitrite 0, nitrate below 5. Just did a water change. Tank is cycled. I use stress coat as my conditioner now. Planted tank. I have Kanaplex and aquarium salt on hand. I’ve never used either though so may need some help. I’m leaving town Thursday and return Saturday, so whatever method I use, should I do now until Thursday or wait until Saturday? He’s gotten a lot worse over the last three days. I also have some ghost shrimp in there so do I need to remove them?

I would remove the shrimp and do daily 50% water changes. Add 1 tablespoon of dissolved aquarium salt per every 5 gallons of tank water. After 1st day, only add 1/2 tablespoon of dissolved salt to every 5 gallons. Right before you leave, do a 75% water change and add 3/4 tablespoon of dissolved salt per every 5 gallons of water. See how he looks when you return.

okay so the dose you said for tonight. Then water change on Tuesday and 1/2 the tablespoon/5gal Tuesday night
Then Wednesday night do 50% water change and the same dose as Tuesday.
Then Thursday morning before I leave, do the 75% change and the 3/4 tablespoon/5gal
Is this correct?
