Alright then my betta's eggs finally hatched and now i have babies everywhere! :D I just wanted to know when i should start feeding them because its been almost three days. Most hold up on their own, but theres still some that fall to the bottom and dont swim back up? How much longer should i keep daddy in there? Most of the fry attach themselves to the plants i have in the tank.

Remove daddy when most of the fry are free swimming (swimming horizontally). Start feeding them at the same time (but feed lightly to start with as they may be still finishing off their yoke sac).

It's possible some of the fry will never become free swimming, that just happens.

If they stay at the bottom and not come up can they still be able to swim after their yolk sacs are done? Also if they are all sticking to the plants does that mean they still have more yolk sac to go through? Because they will swim a little bit horizontally and then they go back to the plant. Thanks for your help. :D

I have found that alot will be on the bottom after taking daddy out and they were fine the next day after they'd finished eating their yoke sac, they were much lighter and could swim easier. I keep like plants (java moss) in my spawn tanks so there is infusoria in the tank for mine to eat, so I don't get carried away with feeding the first day or 2 after they start to free swim. I don't know if you have live plants, if you don't then go ahead and put whatever you plan to use for first feedings (hopefully either infusoria from green water, Vinegar Eels or Microworms).

Ok my betta fry are free swimming and i fed them their first meal, how do i know if they are eating? lol :p

im not sure but shouldnt u see their tummys are full like they have an egg sack so u know theyve eaten

no prob, argh any day now my babies will be free swimming and then i will have to worry weather or not there bellies are full!! lol o well its all fun

im using aqua fry for a few days after they have eaten their yolk sacks, then im going to get the tinnest amount of blood worm and crush it till its like liquid and put the tinnest amount of that in for their food, thats until i can find some bbs or vinegar ells

Cutting up the BW thing probably won't work, I've tried cutting that stuff up before and it truely does just become blood, and you'll never get it small enough for those little fry. You really need to get the BBS and Microworm cultures going. Another thing, new fry look for live, moving things, most will not eat non live foods.

 crap, guess i better get some vinegar ells then, will that do?, when i spawned them last time i feed them micro worms but no one sells them any more, hmm wat to do , :S i asked the guy and he said crush the bw into a paste but im starting to thing this isnt going to work and ive only got two days till their free swimming, i will ask again tommorow to see if they have any vinegar ells or bbs but its really hard to get bbs here in australia so i think im going to have to improvise, how long can they eat infusoria? is there any cultures i can set up that will make micro organisms besides infusoria that i can use to feed them for the next week or so? ive got the aqua fry can they eat that for a week?

hmm i just rang the guy at the lfs and he told me that i need some powder food, he said i should have started some sort of culture but his gonna help me out on thursday cause his shop isnt open tommorow and i cant come in today, anyway i think i should be allrite, will that aqua fry be allright if they start wanting food before thursday?

hmm i dont think so it says small fry baby fish food, well u tell me if the ingredients sound like they could feed a betta fry, they are:

*distilled water
*eggpowder
*autolyzed yeast extract
*vitamin A palmitate
*Citric Acid
*Sodium Benozoate (as a preservative)

and in the directions it says nothing about infusoria it only says feed an average of 10 drops per feeding depending on the number of fry

Btw my fry still have i think a day or two till they are free swiming so i will only give them this if they are not free swiming by the time i go to the lfs and get the fry food.

i would go today but there closed :( owell i suppose they will be allright :) just aslong as those little buggers dont eat thier eggs sacks too fast ;)
