Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new to bettas and happy to be joining this board, I will have lots of questions but right now I am just wondering, when you are breeding bettas, approximately how many do you get?
Thanks,
redbetta

anywhere from approx 50-500. even more possibly. remember you have to take care of them, and eventually jar up to half of the fry, maybe all of them if you breed plakats.

Wow, just from breeding them once? Another thing, how do you breeders do it with the colours? I mean if you're breeding 2 of the same colour , the same will come out again, but what happens if you mix a multi colour with another different multi colour, or just one colour, what happens? Hehe stuff like that is interesting. I'm sure it's all genes but I'm not too good at it.

:dunno: Completely depends. For instance, its probably possible to have two blue bettas have a few red babies because they have a red gene, you never know really.

Yeah, with colours it all depends on what genes the parental fish carry, and you can't necessarily tell what those are just by looking at them. I got a couple of marbles and cellophanes out of spawning a solid copper male and a red cambodian female :dunno:
I've got nearly 200 juvies out of that spawn. They're almost 3 months old :)

Snyrr, I'd love to have 1 or 2 of your babies, but I live in Canada as you probably know by now. I'm moving to uni in 2 weeks, but I would be able to take them with. They are soo cute

Just watch the adoption thread for updates, then. I'm going to be updating it in another week or so with a new batch :)
