I have a male betta in a 12 gallon tank, and I missed a water change because I was moving, and I had some plants die, so when I moved a did a huge change to transport the tank, but I noticed his fins were "splitting". Then I found online that someone preferred Jungle's Fungus clear....and since I had it on hand, I treated tank with one tablet, and then he stopped swimming. THen, the package said to do a 25% change and re-treat after 4 days...thats what I did because he only had one of the "splits" left. After the second 4 days I did a 50% water change. He was only coming up for air, and not swimming around the top like usual. He was just laying on the floor and wasnt eating. I however dropped some betta pellets in front of him and he ate one one day, and a couple another. Now, it's been 2 days after Today I did the same thing, and he was eating pretty well (but still on the bottom laying there), but he was going for food he dropped on the gravel so he's hungry and seems better. THere is still one long "piece" left that didnt fall off, and it "seems" to have stopped the fin rot. Anything I could do? Or just keep the water clean and monitor him? Just wanna make sure he's ok and all!

Some bettas tend to be lazy you may have stress him out by moving him we need wilder

If the finrot has stopped and you think it is just the road to recovery now, the best aid is plenty of fresh clean water changes, this will aid the finnage to grow back etc. As to his eating habits he may be a little weak, bettas can react badly to meds and can be pretty sensitive, so perhaps keep up on those water changes. Also tempt him more with live bloodworm and such and if you really want to help him on his way, can use garlic juice to soak his food in and boost his immunity :good:

THanks for the reply...I'lll see if anyone else replies and let you know.

You mentioned in another post about moving this betta to a smaller tank. Have you checked eBay to see if you can find replacement parts on there so you don't have to move him to a tiny tank?

Yeah, the Eclipse is a pain. THe hood replacement cost about $50. But, I will not downgrade him, But just get a new setup that isnt as build all in together as the eclipse....but not until he fully recovers! Any idea why some plants die?

It appeared and still does he gotten better. But upon my inspection tonight, it looks like the tip of his remaining fin has grown white fuzzy stuff at the bottom of it. I will do a water test and see how it looks tomorrow, cause it's 1130 here...anyone know what it might be?
