Betta feeding questions

Hmm. So are these cooked pea's or raw pea's they are suposed to eat? And how often should they get these? Or do you only feed them pea's if they are already constipated?

This is all very interesting.

Freeze dried foods do a number on the intestines and cause constipation which can be fatal.

There's just so much better out there for them.

Any veggie will help clean them out, peas, zucchini, cucumber. I like the formula I because it has a good protein level as well as having the veggie benefits  If you go with peas don't use canned because of the sodium content, but just cook, shell and feed :) Other veggies work best blanched ;)

I was wondering, I buy Hikari brand frozen foods, freeze dried foods and pellets because it says it has things like b12 and vitamin C. Is Hikari actually more nutritious then other brands? It's usually the most expensive.

May be the same reason you are supposed to do that with your dogs/cats. It's lets their entire system clean itself out, and thus aids in digestion.

On a side note, in regards to Blood Worms. can you feed these to your fish alive? I read they have teeth and can actually bite you (as in people's fingers lol).

Mine love the freeze dried ones so much, I had thoght about getting a culture of live ones..but then I reasd about the teeth..and though I'd ask first. -_-

They have teeth, but not big enough to hurt you. What I read is that they have teeth that would be like a shark if the fish were as big as a shark. So i guess it would be like being bitten by a 2" shark. I really don't think they can open their mouth big enough to really do any damage. I have an idea. Why don't you try it and let us know.

lol ummmmm

Maybe I would buy a feeder goldfish and try that..I don't think I want to experiment with my $20 fish too much lol.

I think I would have to use tweezers too...I'm not too keen on getting bit...by anything

Yes you can feed live bloodworms, but it's much more practical to buy frozen

Just thaw in tank water and feed with a baster :p

how many frozan bloodworms should you feed at a time? i just gave my fishies their first and they all loved 'em, even my guppy fry (but that's another forum)
