my betta has been lying on its side for the last few days now, im really worried and think it might be dying. what do you think is wrong with him and what can i do to help? :(

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
What do you feed your fish.
What does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.
Is the betta bloated.

25 gallon

about 30 platys, guppies, tetras and mollies, 1 rainbowshark, 1 cory, 1 plec

flake and frozen bloodworm

ive just fed the fish bloodworm and he hasnt ate anything, ive no idea if hes bloated and not seen him poo

Your tank sounds overstocked to me.
Take a sample of your water to the lfs and tell them to write the readings down for you.
Cook some frozen peas for a few minutes, let cool down, pop out of shell and much between fingers into small peices and add to the tank.

not sure on the betta myself but that tank seems really overstocked maybe the cause of the problem

thanks for the advice...ill go to my lfs tomorrow

do you have a breeder net or tank to pop him in for now, so he doesn't have to travel far to the surface for air

Yeh i did put him in the breeding box on friday overnight but he didn't seem to get any better or worse so let him back out into tank.
I will put him back in now - thanks
