Betta Cottage

Thanks! I'll have a few pictures up soon. I'm running to the LFS between my morning and afternoon classes for substrate at the very least. Then I'll get my wood situated and send some pictures! :)
Of course, I'll be making a second run to the LFS later today for my plant stock. I'm hoping I won't have to drive thirty minutes. Maybe my LFS will have a decent stock of plants and I can just take those. My other LFS is further away and only sometimes has the plants I need as it is a smaller store.

$250 later, I pretty much bought out my LFS plant selection. :p don't have time for pictures now, but I got several amazons, anubias, crypts, java ferns and some others. Last class today and then I'm back for pictures of set up!

Wow! Absolutely can't wait to see some pics later. Have a good class. :)

Obviously, the water needs clearing up, but I think that will happen once my filter is on again.
I think this is the last bucket before my equipment is turned on again. My more dainty driftwood is floating. It'll water log naturally soon. I've also picked up a few clay pots for caves. Once the water clears, I'll place those too. My next post will have a list of all the plants I bought. I'm thinking I need about three times more than what I've got.

My girls are going out today! I'm so excited! Water is clearing up, but it is still a bit muggy. I've got to do a water change at some poit today, though, so I'm hoping it will be clearer.

Oh I forgot! Last night I went to campus for a meeting with my club and when I returned, the five pounds of the second bag of substrate I hadn't used had been spilled out onto the floor. A little Miss Huxley decided it would be great fun to drag the bag about the house, spilling my gravel everywhere. :\

Plant list:
Cryptocoryne undulata
C. wendtii
Windelov java fern
Amazon compacta (large)
Amazon compacta (small)
Anubias congensis
Amazon sword
Narrow leaf java fern (large)
Tropica fern

I need moss balls, java moss, more amazon sword, more anubias, and possibly some val, if I go to Starkville.

Sneaky pup :p Bet that was fun to clean up.
Seems like a lovely list :D Hope all your girls make it safely!

Water is clearing up! Added more plants.

I got

1 water sprite
2 white sandy
4 vals
1 anarchis
1 green ozelot sword

I also added two clay pots for caves. I'm hoping this will be enough coverage for the plants. I may also get more amazon swords tomorrow.

Looks nice!! I cant wait until your fish get here! Its like waiting for the sequel to your favorite series!

Looking good :D
Are you going to be getting any floating plants?
I'm not very good with plant names so.. >.<

I won't have any floating plants. They look nice, but I worry they'd get stuck in a filter and what not.

Since these girls have grown up together, I'm hoping my tank will be planted enough.

Is that elodea I can see too? If so that will grow super quick and you can cut off and re bunch together to make more plants for hiding in whilst the others grow.

Yes I see what you mean re them having grown up together, so fingers crossed. I may have planted it a bit more, but it will soon fill out.

Looks great with that piece of wood, very excited for you :)

It appears what I thought was an anarchis is actually elodea. Haha! That's fine though. The water is getting clearer still so I'll soon be able to get a better picture to give the density of my plants a little more justice. In the one I posted, you can't really see any of the ones in the back.

There is still one spot that looks bare, so I'll add a few swords in that middle spot.

The white sandy looks holy in that picture. But you can see the amazon compacta back there. It is this area which needs more planting I think.
