Betta bubble nest behaviour

Hi all,

Since yesterday my little Betta has been flaring a lot! I checked the tank over and tested everything and all is fine! I noticed a few tiny bubbles inside his floating log that he seems to be guarding. I’m guessing it’s the start of his first bubble nest, is the flaring and guarding normal? He is literally protecting about 7 bubbles bless him!

From experience, it isn't anything to worry about. Some betta's are more protective over their nests than others, he's hoping for company! I have a betta that sulks if his nest is destroyed during a waterchange so I have to scoop it out and replace it afterwards glad that he seems happy within his environment and has marked his territory. Bless him

If he's being inactive and behaving in a way that worries you then scoop it out. He'll get over it and build another at some point. He's probably very proud of it like a small child bringing home a painting from school

Mine rebuild them every time I destroy them with water changes. It’ll give him something to do. Lol.

So a little update.... I feel terrible for mocking his bubble nest, he’s been busy all day building, he moved from his floating log to his floating plants and it’s getting bigger and bigger. I thought I would share a pic to make up for being mean! He is so proud of his first one, it’s just adorable and he’s still so young, I didn’t expect him to start yet!
