Betta Breeding

Thanks, so jar them all up? Who wants to eat some applesauce? Then you can send me the jars!!! thanks everyone, no not really just a thought, lol, you probably need all the jars you can get. If only they could be nice to eachother... :friends: but no like azulfire said they prefer to tear the s%&# out of eachother ...also what do you call a betta that isn't well enough to be sold but more or less given to a caring owner, i wasn't going to say good betta bad betta or is that the only way?

Maybe call them slightly imperfect. We give these little guys away instead of selling them :good:

Would 25oz applesauce jars be big enough if i filled them up 3/4 of the way? About to where to jar starts to go inward to the top. Do i have to bleach them with say 1:10 bleach water mix? will this also take the glue off the jars? Is it ok to use goo gone on the jars as long as its not going inside the jar? Are there any chemicals that are safer to use with bettas? Thanks, i got about 4 applesauce and a ton of others, thank you grandma, lol.

i fill all my jars up as much as possible, while leaving the water level at a wide space, dose that make sense? nad yes not all fish are perfect, i have one a female { i think lol} that dosent have any vetricals, i thought they might have gotten bitten off in a scrap with lucifer, { the one very cranky baby who had to be seperated at 6 weeks} but they havent seemed to want to grow back, soo if she never gets them i would give her away as a pet, a not for sale due to imperfections fish, and ither drop them off in person or only ask for shipping if i have to mail it.

I wasn't saying bad fish good fish just so you know i will gladly keep imperfect fish, or as you said give them away at no charge. i was thinking filling it up to that part would keep the fish from beeing able to jump out if i didn't put lids on them, they would have to make it through a smaller whole and have to jump pretty far, rather than them being close to the top and being able to easily jump through because the water will be closer to the top, i dont know just thoughts i might also put duckweed in with them, i heard somewhere duckweed keep fish from jumping out of the water. It depends how i feel like i havn't had one fish jump out of a bowl, except today when i did the water change for the parents, the male did jump from the cup when i was trying to get all the dirty water out, but i picked him up and hes fine now in his larger home, same with the female. the only time ive seen the fish attempt to jump is when i conditioned them, the female would always try to jump out when i had the bloodworms just over the water level, lol. i dont know just yet i still have awhile before they have to be jared they are going to hit 2 weeks old tomorrow, although it seems to be going pretty fast, dont know if its the excitement of still having babies for the first time this old, now im able to see them easily, or because summer almost over and ill have to go to school soon, lets hope its the first one, lol

i like to fill the jar as much as possoble so i dont have to do so many water changes lol, an easy way to make lids for jars is to take a sheet of tin fil and cut it with a pair of sissors, then take the points of the sissors and put all the little squares in to a stack then i just poke a few holes in the stack. then place the tin foil square over the mouth of the jar and crumple it down <get what i mean? > easy lid easy to take off , it dosent have to be sealed real tight just enough to keep them from poppin out, an added pluss is the foil seems to keep the jars warmer, i think it is casue my babies are on a windowsill and the foil gets warmer in the sun? maby idk...

OK the babies are just a day over 2 weeks old and i was wondering would it be ok if i topped of the 20 gallon long tank with new water? Or should i use water from my 55gallon tank?(see details in signature) The babies are about half the size of a guppy :shout: there growing this is the largest ive every grown them and there still growing!!! I now have and estimate of 20-30 babies in the tank.

I added 2 gallons of treated water to give them more water volume, hopefully there still alive, i just had another question on feeding, what other things can i feed them? How do you feed them the egg white?, something i wont have to culture, i might try to get some brine eggs, I cant find them i think i saw one of them, hopefulley there still alive, thanks for the help :good:

Freshly hatched baby brine shrimp is the best food for them at this age. Betta Starter is also something we use sometimes. It's egg yolk not white that some people use but only really for the first couple of days. I don't know that it would be of any benefit to them at this age and the amount you'd need would probably contaminate the water too much.

Is there a way to attract the baby fish? I cant find any of them and i think there dead... :rip: x15+ :( I think im going to start over again, this time with a fresh tank, no aquatic plants, because all that hornwort did was fall apart, dont think there was enough light, but the duckweed was fine, the bad thing is ill have to condition them again, not that its bad, but now ill have to wait again for babies, idk, if i start over should i clean the sponge filters too? or should i leave them? they have been in there for awhile, how do you know when to clean them? thanks for your help, hopefully this time i can keep the babies alive
