I was wondering if there are any people on here who breed bettas and live in Australia?
Hi, Ally55.
Hasn't LauraFrog been on lately?
Hope she's OK - she breeds bettas and is in Australia.
Very knowledgeable and helpful - REALLY nice person.
(I haven't been online much myself lately, so am not sure what's what at the moment, but hated to think you might feel deserted, having no answer and waiting for someone to acknowledge/answer your question.
Been there and it sucks.)
Hi guys - and thanks sy!
At the moment I'm breeding crowntails and hopefully halfsun eventually... I'm still planning a spawn at the moment because I can't get my hands on microworm, and it would be kind of dumb to have three hundred wrigglers and nothing to feed them... it's driving me up the wall trying to get stuff.
My first planned spawn is a red/blue pair but I have a metallic green pair ready to breed as well. I would like to start on halfsuns but the LFS is practically begging for CT females so I decided to spawn those first because it's a good way to get some *capital* up for my next spawn.
So probably about four months before I've got any available unfortunately.
Jodi-Lea Matheson is usually breeding... she's in Brisbane and she will also import off Aquabid, although it is VERY expensive to import fish. her email is [email protected] and she used to have a website but it's been down for months. Najrick bettas is another place, they're located in Cairns (really close to me) - google Najrick bettas and you'll find their site. They've just moved so breeding is on hiatus unfortunately.
It's certainly possible, the problem is the price... in order to ensure that the fish got there within a day or two (which is the longest they can spend in a bag safely) you would have to put them on a plane, which costs a lot. I haven't actually gotten a quote for it, because it would depend on the exact destination and the size of the box (ie how many fish were in it). It might be up to sixty-odd dollars a box or as little as 20... it's really hard to know.
