Betta bowl

These are teeny tiny things and not really suitable to house bettas

I seem to remember a topic a while ago raging about them :/

I think they hold around a quater of a gallon but not sure :dunno: but its not much and certainly not much room to spread their fins

They look like the ones at a local mall FS . If so they hold less than a quart of water.
Anyway , bettas are warriors , and fighters ,and would possibly die of shame in a go#!!&* :*) @!@#n valentine bowl.

hmm so basicly the betta they have in the picture isn't actual size to the tank then?
It looks like it MIGHT hold a half gallon if it weren't for all the rocks. I wouldn't suggest keeping a betta in something that's half gallon for anything but a hospital bowl. My first betta was in a half gallon bowl. That was before I knew anything about them. Between him being depressed in the small and cold space, and not eating because I tried to feed him flakes, he died in a month. :(

so its best to stick to a 1gallon until they make that tank bigger lol
I'd get something like a 2.5 gallon. They aren't much more expensive than a 1 gallon and they give the betta more swimming room which they would really appreciate.

Thos valentine things are crap. Makes me ashamed that my birthday is on valentines day. I saw a few at pet supermarket and asked the employees if they were serious in putting a betta in it. It was about 2 inches wide and 3 inches deep. Worse than the cups they are in at the LFS. :-(

great a n00b swearing not helping ass well anyway i wouldnt put a betta in that sorry but it looks far too small

Aww, I think that's cute, but yeah, way too small. Bettas are actually a very active fish! I used to think they naturally just laid on the bottom of their bowls and didn't swim much but as it turns out, that is an unatural state they go into to conserv energy to prevent freezing to death! If you keep the water warm, your fishy will be as active as a GOLDFISH! My little guy lives in a coffee pot, which I keep located right next to our stove (it's a gas stove and keeps the bowl warm). I have to tell you this is an extremely interactive fish! He SEES ME when I walk by and flairs at me! EVEN FROM ACROSS THE ROOM! This amazes me lol. But my point is, if your fish is treated right and is active too, your heart would break to put it in anything less than a gallon because you'll see him trying to swim past the glass. If you go to Walmart, look for "Aquaview" in their pet department. It's a very pretty, triangle shaped, one gallon tank, with a filter and a lighted hood! (The light does a good job of keeping the water warm, and the filter can be tossed asside.)The best part is, it looks nice and only costs 10 bucks and some change.

It's working great for my second betta which I keep at work. He flits about his tank, "beggs" for food by his feeding hole and all in all is a joy to watch.

As for the betta's size in the picture: I'm pretty sure it's an optical illusion because the one I saw at a petstore was simillarly sized as a drinking glass. Also, unless you live in a warm climate, fishies in glasses don't move much because the water temp goes down quickly, so the display won't be as nice. I'd recomend an Aquaview! :) Here's a picture of one:

Don't forget, as I've said before, every photo of things like these is photo shopped. Maybe you could email them and say how patheticly small it is. If they say 'its plenty big enough' ask them to send you a photo of one with a real betta in, not some photoshopped bumf.

Don't get one of those - they hold about 2 cups of water.
They should make them illegal, in my opinion.

I wonder how many bettas have comitted suicide by jumping out of those horrendous things.

Uugh.

The aqua view 1 gallons are pretty nice, but I think they're still a little too small for a full grown male betta. I'd go with the deluxe aquaview tank I think those are a little roomier.

I bought an aquaview 1 gallon for my betta and once I set it up with some plants and gravel, it seemed very small for him. So I gave it to four guppy fry my brother's guppy had and I put my betta in a 10 gallon hex.

i use the tanks that prizm shown they are good for little bettas if your low on space (like me) if you have a larger male it should go in a aquaview plus thats 1 and 1/2 gallon (i only have lightning in that one becuase he is too big for the regulars) i think they fitt well i could take some pics of my fishrooms...
