it's crazy, i lost my female betta last wednesday, she was in my hospital tank as she had cloudy eyes and i was treating her. she vanished, couldnt find her anywhere, i thought she must be inside the castle as it has a couple of holes in as windows etc, so i left it in there to see if she came out. i will now take the castle out, anyway, i was doing my weekly water changes on all my tanks today and when changing the water on my hospital tank i found her. The tank has the filters in the lid, sponges and bio balls, its a little 25 ltr hex tank, i saw sometihng twitch in the filter chamber, there she was, traped inbetween the side of the filter sponge and the side of the filter chamber, no room to move really and there was no water there, the water goes over the top of the sponge at the left of the chamber, down through the sponge and across the bio balls and out on the right side of the chamber ( its a fish r fun tank if anyone knows the make you will know the filter type) so i spose the sponge would of been at least damp, crazy that the fish could survive with that little water, she was dry but still alive, so i got her and put her back in the tank. she is swimming around happily again, altough a bit thin, im thawing some bloodworms out for her now!

I just think its amazing that she has survived so long with out any food, without being able to move and with very little water i lost her last wednesday, and found her today so thats 9 days!!!!!!!

Yeh that is amazing :good: , but i find it even more amazing that you didn't think to find her before now. She has been very lucky.

Yeah cant help but wonder why you didnt tear everything apart looking for her?! to make sure she was ok... Im glad she is ok but keep an eye on her if she did have little water she may have suffered brain damage or contracted an infection, its a long time in bad conditions.

well, im glad you found her! animals are truely amazing with surviving sometimes horrible conditions. good luck with her!!!

yeah i did try looking for her, but i didn't look in the filter as i didn't see any way she could of got in there, she couldn't get in the inlet tube because the holes are far too small for a fish to get in, she must of jumped, i just didn't know they could jump that far. the only other place she could of been was inside the castle, and i assumed she'd got stuck in there.

I am treating her with melafix

I have two 'Fish R' Fun' tanks and I like the 'filter in the hood' idea because it gives you a bit more tank space. I'm baffled as to how she could have possible got into it when it has a grill over the see-through inlet pipe.

I have that same tank ( see sig ) and I too am wondering how the hell she got in there...

i am also baffaled, the only way i think she could of got in there is by jumping, although it would have to of been one hell of a jump. i don't see how else she could of got in there
