I got a 20 aquarium and have been dying to get a betta for myself and didn't want to add it to my 10 gallon since it was already overstocked, so I turned it into a fry tank I'm hoping.

My daughter has a betta and I've tried twice with my son but it didn't do any good for me and his aquarium so he's stuck with guppies right now until they pass and I'll try again.

I want to know though can I add a betta in with my platy? I have 2 sunburst one male and 1 female and right now there are 2 pandas in the 20 gallon. I will be adding at least another panda to the tank after I'm sure she has dropped her fry. The thing is my male sunburst is already showing aggression to the one female sunburst I have. (Yes I know about the 2:1 ratio, I just recently lost my other female sunburst. And the male show aggression to both girls.)Would it be okay to add a betta or should I just wait until my aggressive male platy has enjoyed his life?

A betta will be fine with platies, I have done it myself and so has my little sister, no problems :good: I would really advise you to get 2 more female platies, the recommended ratio is actually 3:1 :) Your female sunburst will thank you for it! And I suppose the male will too... :hey:

I have 3 female bettas in with one male beta plus 3 female platys and they're all fine. Today I added 4 dalmatian mollies because they were each $1 instead of $4 so I bought the four they had left. I have several goldfish, too, which will eventually be moved to another tank. But they all get along and I watch the ammonia in the tank and the water is okay. I bought them a hornwort today and removed one of the plastic plants. I also added a rock cave for the smaller fish to hide, the entrance is partially blocked by a plant so the larger fish have a harder time entering. I'm real pleased with my tank, its in the livingroom where I use my laptop so I can see them all the time. I still want a bala shark but can't get one unless I get a much larger tank, so that will have to wait. Forgot to mention that female platys don't seem to attract the male betta, he's too busy looking at the other fish! Hope this helps.
