beta in a vases

ok this is not me that's doing this but i'm outraged and have pleed with her not to.

anyway, my friends getting married in march. i found out about 10 minutes ago she's wanting to get a load of betas in vases for the middle of the tables for the wedding. i have no idea what she plans to do with them after but she doesn't keep fish.

any one want to offer any words to her about this? I'm gonna let her see this post by giving her the link

They'll probably be dead before the party ends anyway.

People will drop wine and food inside the bowls, the loud music will make them go crazy and spme pthers will get knocked down the tables.

That's cruel in my opinion.

Even those who do survive will probably be be picked up by people who know nothing about fish and won't be given the proper care.

I think this is a big no-no

Please don't do this! Bettas are beautiful but it would be cruel to keep them in vases on a table! They are living things, not a flower arrangement. Like yvez9 said, they are likely to all be dead before the party ends anyway. The loud music will frighten the life out of them and things will be dropped on them. Please don't do it!

What an utterly tasteless display that would be! It's a wedding reception not a pet store opening. I can't even imagine it symbolizing anything, I hate to think what the rest of her theme is. Cruelty to animals maybe? Ridiculous.

One time I went to Big Al's, a lady bought like 25 bettas. We asked the guy there what she was planning to do with them. They were the centerpieces for tables at a wedding.

Worst thing is I wanted to buy a betta but she bought them all that day!

I don't mind people that go fishing or hunting because the animal won't suffer too much and it does serve a purpose. But buying an animal just to let him die on his own... ugh

Even cats, I hate cats but i would never hurt them. I'll scare them away if they're in the backyard or something, but I won't grab a baseball bat


Somebody should pass a law to prohibit using live animals as giveaways like that. I know some countries do have laws, but I live there is noen in Canada

putting a betta in a vase for a wedding is a very cruel thing to do .
it would stress the fish out alot and probably it will end up dying

The pretty bride is "Yin" and the handsome groom is "Yang". Beautiful and harmonious marriage needs the balance of "Yin" and "Yang", as well as encouraging / good omens to achieve cosmic balance which brings heavenly bliss and wonderful husband and wife relationship.

Displaying fish during a wedding is very risky and might disrupt this balance.

Weddings must be auspicious. Suffering and dying fish is no good. Tsk tsk tsk...

I was at a wedding and they but one betta in a large glass bowl that they used to the cake stands, they were all fine. I ended up with the bettas after the wedding anyway

Tell her it won't be very romantic to have dead bettas floating around in a vase. Ask her if she's going to fish out the dead ones, what she's going to do to heat the water, what she will do with them after etc.

Ask her how she would feel if she was to be put in an air tight, tiny little room with the air slowly being pumped out? How would she like to die slowly by sufficating and to top it off with very loud noise. Put yourself in their "fins" and see how you would feel. I hate those "vases" with the lillies on top! Some people are such idiots! Grrrr.....
