I use milton sterilising fluid (stuff for cleaning baby bottles, used in hospitals etc) for cleaning tank equipment or new tanks. Its a chlorine based bleaching agent and seems to do the trick.
Whats your plans for the new tank?
Thats another good tip, never thought about that, sterilising fluids, hmm, will check it out as don't know if expensive or not.
Really, this tank is for the GF's birthday!
She LOVES the Red Cherry Shrimps I have and now wants her own shrimp tank!!
TBH when i started this, she had no interest at all in fish tanks and stuff, and when I was nearly finished with first tank and had live plants etc she began to get into this and when I started to introduce the different species of shrimps and fish available at LFS, she has got into this now and stares at my tank for ages watching whats going on! lol, love it!
But she wants a marine type setup for shrimps called "Sexy Shrimps" and she also wants a seahorse! Groan!
Marine which is a PITA as far as I am concerned with RO, sumps, bio balls, overflow, pipework etc and I know NOTHING about marine setups so am trying to persuade her to stick with FW shrimps and have a really nice looking planted tank with harlequin shrimps or something like that with maybe a few small fish like endlers or a Betta Splenden but they tend to eat shrimps though!
I have my own plans in my head of what I would like to have set up on the Fluval Edge tank but as said, its for the GF, will see what happens! lol
