Best Way To Move Fish

In about 3 weeks i will be moving from one apartment to another. My new apartment is about a 8 minute drive. I have a 55 gallon tank and was wondering what the best way to transport them? I dont want to put too much stress on them. I have 8 black skirt tetras, 2 rasboras, 1 guppy, 3 zebra loach, 3 panda corys, 7 tiger barbs, and 1 bristlenose.

Catch and bag them, each group of fish in seperate bags, try to put them in a box lined with polystyrene to keep the heat in, as soon as you can, re-fill the tank and re-introduce them to the tank as if you had just got them. Also keep your filter media wet, if its an external filter you shouldnt have a problem, just done empty all the water out, if you have an internal, take the media out an put it in a bag of fish tank water.

I have the same problem as we move at the end of the month.
Only about 20 - 30 mins traveling but i need to move my community tank, my ram tank and the one im dredding my parrot tank. Those guys are getting big now so catching and packing could be fun. Last time we moved it was only the community tank. Bagged them all seperatly and they traveled in a cooler box was pretty straight forward and as Minx said keep the filter/media wet and you should be fine.

The best advice I can give you is to move the tanks as soon as you get the keys and are allowed in. Once you do that it's out of the way and you can move everything else in without worrying.

and plan pre-hand where the tanks are going to go, and run through each step in your mind (before going to sleep) and it will be a dodle

one thing i have to say is before you move in if the tanks going on a floor thats not a ground floor make sure it can suport a 55 gal also try and move some of the water with you yournonly other option would be ask a trusted lfs to care for them as you move
