basicly i need to stop fish from getting in there. it needs to be neat and tidy though, and as un-noticable as possible as its facing the front of the tank.
Yea, wood filler should seal that up nicely, let it set for a few hours and sand it down. I think you can get a few colour variations, so get the best match to the colour of your wood.
It's not going in the water is it? Once it's dried out there should be no fumes. Make sure no dust fom the sanding goes in the tank, as that could be toxic to the fish.
I think it's waterproof because I've used some on an outside door.
some wood fillers use water to soften them if they go a bit hard in the tub i would be very wary on using wood filler under water it could easily break up slowly under there
would be better to get a smaller piece of synthetic wood & cut it to shape & plug the hole cut it on a taper & drive it into the hole till its tight then cut it or sand it off flush
