Hi guys

I'm not going to downsize in gravel now, I'm going to swap to sand for many reasons.
What would be the best type of sand to buy?
Are there various types of aquarium sands?
Cheers guys.

The cheapest you can get is certainly Argos play sand needs cleaning probably more than aquarium brands and of course is just the standard colour.

Does it need to be a certain type of sand?
ie kiln dried sand etc?

I'm unsure but I would assume as long as its not treated with anything for any reason then I t should be fine, you might get some changes to water conditions though but again I'm unsure

Kiln dried sand is safe, as far as I'm aware, so are the various play pit sands and pool filter sand, as well as the specialist aquarium sands, of course.

Do not get black volcanic sand, even though it looks nice, if you see it anywhere; I've lost two BNs and a cory to that stuff over the weekend, even though it was supposed to be aquarium safe :-(
