Personally I like Black Phantoms. :) I have heard that Black Skirts can lose there color as they get older.

But the one thing I have never read of any other tetra doing that the Black Phantom does, is change colors. :) They can go completely utterly black in a matter of seconds and then back again. :)

I've always wanted Black Phantoms, but I've only every had neons and I like them a lot  Mine look very "American" with the red white and blue

Rummy, black neons. Haven't kept either, just like how they look.

Our favourites are our Rummynoses, although we recently got some Emporors, and they're pretty groovy too.

Is it true that pirahna are closely related to tetras?

If I had to pick, it would be Congo's.

Or glad to see someone mentioned the black neon, cute little tetra but shy.

Your question was "best tetra" - I had assumed you meant what was my opinion of the best, if you are looking for a rugged, easy to keep, and damn fine looking fish, the Black Neon is hard to beat - a very under-rated fish.
