Any advice out there on the best/easiest tank for me (a relative amateur) to use?

I'm looking for a long ractangular shape ideally, 100/120cm long, about 40cm wide and any depth?

Thanks in advance.

my adive is get the biggest tank you can 1st then it will save you money later

You can't go wrong with most glass tanks. Especially if you looking for a 30Gal which is about 3' long. They are usually cheap enough. If they are used just check the seals for pealing or gaps. Make sure the tank doesn't leak.

Check your local paper ! :)
I got a 3ft for £10
keep an eye out in the local paper, its usually listed under "other pets". also freecycle. i have two three foot tanks here and i have yet to pay a penny for one. also got a nice 20g plus lid and light for £5 at a car boot.

Aqua One Evo 100 looks a good tank!

Excellent light output through T5 lighting

Each aquarium comes with:

1 x CF1000 external power filter

1 x 200 watt heater

2 x 39 watt T5 fluorescent lights

Aquarium dimensions : 100 x 40 x 55 cms

Capacity : 190 litres 42 gallons

Im wanting to get the smaller 70 version looks a nice tank its basically a jewel copy with standard t5's and an external filter :good:

Can pick one up for about £320.00

Thanks Aibo, looks good. I think I may be able to fit in a 120cm tank in length. Bigger the better IMO.

One thing I've always wondered is for a tank of that size would I need 2 heaters, an aireator? and what about CO2 for plants? Was hoping to keep it as simple as possible lol

I bought a Rena Aqualife. I have been very pleased with it and the kit supplied apart from the XP3 filter. Cabinet is solid and easily constructed. Acces to lighting is good. It even looks good! My only concern was that the top part of the tank would be shallow and prone to evaporation and then the lights would show. This has not happened and evaporation has been minimal.
I added 50 kg of washed gravel and after 1 week, a plant collection from Greenline.
Plants are doing well and the new fish, added at week 6, seem active.
Glad I came back to this hobby!

The Rena Aqualife range of tanks also comes with a 5 year guarentee which you won't get from any other manufacturer that i know of. They are undoubtedly well built, but the price also reflects that i'm afraid.

Other makes to consider are Juwel and Fluval.

honestly as stated about 50 times above, check local sales. Saves money, always see the tank b4 u buy it to make sure its good quality but it normally is, and it also avoids paying for any extras u dont want like a filter you might end up deciding u dont want, or somehting like that. If you are in N.A try kijiji.com (or .ca if ur canadian like me), and go to ur local area. TONS on kijiji, best site ever. Internet always seems to have more then paper tho.
