Fighting Fish as in a Betta splendens? If so, definitely the odd one out, everything else there thrives in a strong current (8-20x true water turnover per hour) with at least 24C for the Clown Loach.

How many Clown Loaches are in there? Hopefully at least six, ideally 10+ and eventually they will outgrow a 5-foot.

I'd suggest 20 Pareutropius buffei or the slightly bigger but less common Pareutropius debauwi, depending upon the temprement of your Firemouth Cichlid. These unusual diurnal schooling catfish need a BIG group for confidence, but they will not do well with boisterous/aggressive tankmates.

Most schooling fish once they are settled in the tank and confident will pretty much do their own thing and come together with the others occasionally in dribs and drabs or if they feel threatened.

I have cardinal and neon tetras that both school a bit, however the ones that school the most are the harlequins.
