Best & Recommended Foods For Shrimp?

you think it's safe to put them in with the caridinas and elephant snails then?

I'm guessing you meant to reply to the other thread but i will answer here!

They will be fine with the snails.

Check out the hybrid shrimp guide on ukshrimp to see which shrimp you can keep with them... If they are a Babulti species they are the basically the same as green shrimp except in colour.

I don't target feed the shrimp in my community tank, they make do with missed fish food and algae. In my smaller tank i feed them Crab cuisine and Novo Prawn.

There is this article on uk shrimp about feeding shrimp : http://www.ukshrimp.co.uk/index.php?option...s&Itemid=81

Cheers m8, i was thinking of hikari shrimp cuisine, i presume this is a good food?, mine will be target fed, they have a tank all to themselves.

at the moment they are getting tetra prima and algae wafers, are these ok aswell? alternated between all three.

The shrimp cuisine wasn't available when i got my food... it lasts that long I've not bought any shrimp food in almost a year! I've heard good things about it. The food I have is in relatively big compared to the shrimp cuisine and they have to share so i'm going to give it a try when i get some more.

The food you are feeding should be ok, but extra variety wouldn't hurt. Be careful not to over feed them or it will affect the water quality. Only feed them as much as they will eat in a couple of hours.

I give my cherry, amano, crystal red and crystal black shrimp a variety of frozen food, freeze dried tubifex (mainly for the hillstream loaches), algae wafers (mainly for the plecs) Sera Marin Gourmet Nori and about 10 pellets of Sera Shrimps Natural as the staple every day.

The Gourmet Nori is the same as you get at Tescos for making sushi I think, but it comes in a packet in convenient small strips of 1-3cm and is only 95p so is a great buy IMO, all my shrimp go nuts for it.

Ohh I always assumed my shrimp feed themselves. lots of moss and plants give them lots of food, I think! At least they are breeding - and babies growing well too :)

The shrimp in my shrimp only tank only get food mostly sinking pellets or veg twice a week.
They seem to be fine.

Cheers for all the info peeps, the mix of food will be..... shrimp cuisine, tetra prima, algae wafers, cucumber, corgette and will try that nori stuff you mentioned Three- fingers ;)

Fortunately shrimper i probably have a little more leway with water quality than most beens there in an 180ltr tank but yeh i tend to remove food after a few hours anyways :)
