I have 2 blood parrots and feed them Wardley cichlid pellet crumbles, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and bloodworms. They also get cucumber, green beans, peas, and zuchini.

I was wondering if there is something better than the Wardley Cichlid pellets for a staple food?

Can I feed them either bloodworms, mysis shrimp, or brine shrimp every day? Like pellets in the morning and then one of the frozen foods in the evening, or is that too much frozen food for them?

They are about 4 inches from head to tail right now.

Thanks,

Barb

Im no blood parrot expert, so ill probably be corrected.

In my experiance with other fish iv found that it is good to have a dry pellet/flake food for the stable, and substitute frozen/live/vegi foods in periodically through the weekly feeding schedral. Most fish like variety in their diets, and various food stuffs will insure that your fish are getting the nutrition they need. Most higher end commercial foods are well balanced, and probably not bad for your fish. I really dont see anything wrong with how your feeding you parrots now.

What about spirulina? Is this good for them occasionally? I bought plankton today for them and Omega One Cichlid flakes. I just don't like the wardley pellet crumbles because they are just fish meal, oatmeal, wheat gluton, corn flour and stuff like that. Omega One has salmon, shrimp, and good things like that in their flakes, thought that would be better than just fishmeal and oatmeal for my parrots and severum.
