Tomorrow I take delivery of my 6.5ft Rena Aquarium. :hyper:

I will obviously need a good product which takes chlorine and heavy metals out of the water etc. I usually use Interpet but that is £3.99 a bottle and would run out in no time at all.

Is there are good, reasonably inexpensive product which I can buy 'in bulk' to cut down on cost i.e a 1 or 2 litre bottle?

Also can I use the outdoor pond products? Does it do the same thing or will it harm the fish/filter?

Not all dechlorinators remove chloramines and heavy metals - these can be lethal to some aquatic life.
That's not to say that there aren't cheap products on the market that claim to do all this - but look at exactly what it does (or not) before you just grab the cheapest off the shelf.

API stress coat really is very good and does all that - at a very competitive price.

If you want to know more about the different water treatments and what they do, here is a neat summary of some :)

I use king british safe guard its £2.99 for 100ml and states that it removes harmful chlorines and chloramines, removes excess ammonia and detoxifies heavy metals.

Got a bottle of Nutrafin Aqua Plus today. £10.00 for a 500ml bottle that treats 770 UK gallons!

Removes chlorine and chloramine and neutralises heavy metals apparantly. Think this seems like a decent product unless any of you know otherwise?
