Hello all. What would be the best Clean up crew for my tank as my algae is starting to build and I want to pretty much eliminate gravel vacuuming. Not sure what to put in or how many. Would like a variety if poss.

The tank is a Boyu TL550 with 1 clown and 2 damsels.Thanks

3-4 turbo snails should do the trick, they are great workers don't get more than that though as you will be surprised how much and how quick they eat. Getting to many will mean there will not be enough food for them all to survive and as a result some will die of starvation.

Yeah crabs and shrimp will also eat algae but not as rapid as turbo snails so you will need a lot of them.

Also shrimp tend to hide at the back of the aquarium and only really come out at night, I have 5 (1 cleaner and 4 peppermint) and I hardly ever see them.

Whoaaaa, hold your fishes Woody, we need to wait to see if you get a mini cycle first

But for your tank:

you could have a shrimp - fire will hide a lot of the time, cleaners will be out and about but when/if you get corals they might bother them by climbing all over them, peppermints are great, but you will rarely see them
3 dwarf hermits, get all the same, dont be tempted into different ones - I like halloweens or blue legs
2 x mexican turbos (the big ones)

Thanks Seffie. I'm plannin a trip up to A&D Aquatics as they have a large Marine section and DO give out good advice unlike others so will have a look at 'my crabs''

Can't take my bleedin eyes off the tank. Every 5 min I'm checkin it and I don't even know what I'm checkin for! LOL

I'm worried I might start to neglect my freshwater tanks! Can't let that happen!

Try angel aquatics. They are much better than A+D. The shop is smaller but is a lot cheaper and they give out good advice! There is also water decor in hagley.

Lol, watch rocking is addictive, you wait to you start seeing things you havent seen before and if you have a red light, then take a look in there after light off!

Weekly maintance, just give the cup a good clean out

4 turbo snails and a couple of hermit crabs. They've been in the tank about 2 hrs now and they aint moved, yet they are alive as I've seen them poke their heads out. They probably had a look at my tank and thought ***k This!
