Chances are your light is too bright, reducing the light period may help but probably won't. Floating plants will help diffuse the light and will help if this is the issue.

Please note that I have no experience of your particular light, so you need to confirm compatibility, but I do have several of these controllers working with other brands. In 2 of my tanks I run the lights at 50% or less. The only tank where I run them at 100% has really dense surface cover (i.e. floating plants).
Edit: forgot to mention that it could also be too much sunlight hitting the tank, this is easier to control.
