I am thinking about changing my 55gal tank over to cannister from HOB. I was leaning towards a Fluval 305 or Eheim 2213 but i want to know what some others would suggest.

I like them both. Fluvals are easier to maintain IMO but the Eheims are cheaper I think but supposedly better quality. I don't have any problems with either filter so I'd say go with personal preference or go with Eheim if you're on a budget.

On the Fosters and Smith site I can find the Eheim Ecco's cheaper than their equivalent Fluvals. The other models might be more expensive. In fact some of them are but I haven't done a lot of comparing between them all.

I have an Ecco and it hasn't done any sucking it isn't supposed to. :p

edit: Though looking at their prices, they aren't too bad either.

i like my rena, so easy to clean, unplug, flip a few switches, and now you have access to the media.

JEBO, but you gotta buy the genuine one since there are some fakes on ebay

the price is really low, but it matches up to the top brands.

Eheim, Classic, Pro, or Pro II. Avoid the Ecco line, they are an entry level filter, and are a poor example of what Eheim is capable of producing.

Funny that you mention that there are fake jebos, because jebo is a fake of other products. Dont you think that jebo canisters look very similar to eheims?

lol.

I would personally go for Eheim pro thermos. My eheims have always been fantastic and very very reliable. Parts are easy to find also. They arent the cheapest ever but you get what you pay for.

Although I suspect Fluval are as good as eheim.

Whole heartedly recommend Tetratec EX range. I have an EX700 on my 47 gal and its great :) Easy maintenance etc. Comes with everything to get you started.

i have just picked up a tetratec ex700 on tuesday for my 40 Gal . All reviews i have read rate it quite highly. also the lfs had it for a good price (£56)
