[Back in the fold]

My daughter gave me a female Betta that was wreaking havoc on the Granddaughter’s guppies . This fish is big and full bodied . She is gonna be a great breeder . Now is a good time of year to breed Betta’s . My fishroom will be hot and infusoria cultures are easy to start and maintain in the summer months . I’m hoping to have a nice batch of Betta’s by fall .

This is a problem. You say big-bodied, another word is obese. A sad sight with these fish sometimes. Imagine a person who is 5 foot tall and 250 lbs

Yep . This is the biggest female Betta I’ve ever seen . She’s getting fed on fruit flies now so maybe that roughage will clear out the doughy paste of flakes she’s been eating for the most part . That and baby guppies as Gary noted . My male will put her in his loving embrace and squeeze her down some too . A Reubenesque Betta , who would’ve thought .

A careful diet will prolong her life a lot.
