Beginners Luck

I'm not expert in these things, but my understanding is that you'll probably need gas co2 even with only 2 lights going (i stand to be corrected)
Not sure what the weight is on that link but it looks small & won't last long.
I'm currently researching co2 gas myself.
There's plenty of good advice about a diy Fire Extinguisher system.cheap & last ages.
Or a 600g disposable bottle system, which you can adapt to a FE later, if you feel comfortable.

Black background for sure. Swap the Neons for Rummynoses and get some Sterbai Cories. Then set the temperature at 28c.

I bought some Tetraplant Plantamin before I saw your rely :( Will this be ok to use or should I invest in the TNC stuff?

I also got some sand and another piece of wood to use as a divider for the substrate, my tanks hardscape is now complete, just waiting for the hairgrass to carpet and trying to get rid of some algae growth on the java fern :( I'm thinking of changing the plants on the left side as you look at it, think the tall plants takeaway depth and take the focus off the rocks.

Nice! Like the way the sand is divided.. Will be watching this..
And that's a really nice stand/cabinet!

Cheers :)

The stand cost me £250 from Germany :( matches my tv stand though so can't complain

TMC Complete should come tomorrow :) still looking for a pressurised Co2 kit so at the minute I'm dosing flourish excel.

I'm looking for something to clear the algae off the wood and java ferns. Any thoughts on cherry shrimp or ottos?

Oto's would be better than the shrimp. But you will probably find that the excel will clear it up as it contains an algaecide. :good:

Just a small update, I went to my LFS and purchased 3 Ottos, 4 Amano Shrimp and 2 of what were advertised as Tiger Goby (see pic), I thought these were just saltwater?

My current stock is now 18 Neon Tetra, 1 Electric Blue Ram, 3 Otto Catfish, 4 Amano Shrimp, 2 Tiger Goby. Oh and a baby fish of unknown description that jumed a lift with the shrimp.

I've also raised the rocks slightly on the left handside, I think it looks much better, can't wait for the DHG to grow!

My fertiliser has arrived too which should hopefully start to make the plants look a bit healthier. Combined with my new algae army I'm excited for the coming weeks progress :) few pics below...

Could be a bumblebee goby that you've got, although it looks in that picture to have more white markings than yellow...
