Beginner New Tank - Total Confusion!

If you have tropical fish you could have a couple of platies or guppies ( make sure you get males ) a betta, maybe some small neons. :good:

My son is 4, i think i may steal your idea and tell him the same. Hopefully that way he will be more patient!

Can someone tell me the pros and cons of tropical v cold water?

This is something i could still consider

Thanks

It really worked, can't believe that my silly white lie has kept him happy for all that time. Just make sure you visit 'mummy and daddy' in between to say hello ;)

No downsides to tropical really. Only the small cost for a small heater, but for that size you can get one for £10-£15 easily. You really have much more options with tropical. And as said, the cycling will go much faster as you can bang up the temperature to help the bacteria grow.

Hi

Just a quick update for anyone interested.

I bought a heater and have told my son that it takes a very long time to heat the water up, hence why we need to wait a few weeks.
I started my fishless cycle Fri.

Thanks for your help

Ha ha, that's a good excuse too :good: Have fun heating up erm... cycling ;)

Any ideas on tropical fish? My puffer is here now and she is awesome! But tiny, so maybe a better would be better for a beginner.
