so i went to petco the other day and started darting through the usual shelves just peeking around and i stopped to look at all there tank kits and came across and eclipse system 29 gal i believe..."Marine Setup" im not sure what it came with just showed a big picture...kinda catchy to the eye with a usual marine setup...rocks...fish an such very colorful do these kits come with everything a begginer to marine tanks would need or is it a waste of time?....what would you need for a basic start? would live rock be the easiest to contend with at this stage?....ive kept Freshwater tanks for awhile.various types of fish....cichlids...puffers...loaches..gouramis .various live bearers so not entirely new to the work involved or the money for that matter

if its marine land, its probably the same tank i got. I does come wit a lot, and it is only 12 gallons. I dont think they makle a 29 gal. its a big box cause of all the extras!!. Lol, its a very nice tank, but if you plan on getting corals, be prepared to mod. You have to make a Mod for a fuge, and for lights. Im getting the quad 96 watt light from hellolights. I kinda wish i had just gotten a nano cube though. These do come with just about all you need. And are very nice if you do a good job on mads.

:hi: to the marine section Puffer. Unfortunately there's no easy answer to your question :shifty:. A lot really depends on what the kit comes with (as each is different), and the requirements of the livestock you want to keep. There are lots of hardware considerations depending on the animals involved, so I find it's better to first decide what you want to keep and then figure out what its requirements are :good:. I'd suggest reading through the stickies atop this section for a look into what a marine tank entails and have a peek around liveaquaria.com or saltwaterfish.com for some ideas on what livestock (fish, corals, inverts) that interest you.

Good luck with your deccisions and feel free to keep asking more directed questions as you learn more :)

what fish and what not would yall recomend for a begginer SW? i like the live rocks and such....but im not looking to go in over my head...so what do ysll suggest...rocks and fish

It may be cliche, but clownfish are some of the hardiest fish out there and great for beginners and experts alike. Gobies are also generally hardy, as are basslets (unfortunately aggressive in small tanks), and wrasses make pretty good fish.
