Becoming A Mod

how does someone get selected to become a moderator?

Well the Old World mod, who is now Ferris, was chosen by vote really, people had to PM William who they thought should be it, highest voted person won.

The only person that would even remotely get a look in for a mod imo would be Wilder. She is possibly the best and only person in the Emergency section day in day out.

Yea from what I hear its really quite difficult to become a mod. The best chance you'd have of becoming a mod would be if a new section was made and you had expertise in that section.

What about nmonks? He's probably the most qualified. I have a really weird fealing he's retired mod for some reason, but i dont know which tiny bit of brain came up with that..

Why does this thread always come up, and even more so, why do people always feel the urge to mention who they feel would make great mods?

William is the admin of this website and it is up to him to pick moderations. I'm pretty certain that the current mods will have a say in it as well. Just post your usual stuff, try to be as helpfull as you can, and if you catch the eye of some high up people here you might get lucky. Far as I'm aware throwing in random 'I'd make a great mod!' comments or doing so for other people does not make you or anyone else a mod.

I agree that this topic should be closed. However, I wanted to add something in, as I feel it's important.

That's not quite true. He was not chosen by vote. The members sent nominations to William, William posted those nominations for the mods to see, and then we all decided as to who would become a mod. It was not purely vote. The members nominated members, but the number of nominations never came into play.
